Legendary Songa Migrational Camp
Follow in the footsteps of the Great Migration. When the dust settles after the drama of the Mara River crossings, our signature migrational camp bids farewell to its perch among the rolling hills and rocky outcrops of Kogatende in the north. Reborn amid a sea of green grass plains within our exclusive-use protected wildlife area, Songa opens its doors in the south just in time to welcome the herds to their ancient calving grounds.
Reminiscent of classic explorer-style safari camps, where your every comfort is considered, Songa is the perfect base for those seeking to answer the call of the wild in style.

Stay at Legendary Songa Migrational Camp
Songa Migrational Camp follows in the path of the Great Migration, locating twice yearly between the northern and southern Serengeti. Guests are granted a front row seat to the procession of more than two million wildebeest, zebra and Thomson’s gazelle as they traverse across the vast grass plains.
Hundreds upon thousands of wildebeest stretch as far as the eye can see as the mega herds of the Great Migration congregate in the short grass plains for the calving season. With a prime location in Maswa Kimali, our exclusive-use protected wildlife area bordering the southern Serengeti, Songa Migrational Camp affords front-row seats to this spectacle.
Here, guests will enjoy exclusive access to the Migration – without any other tourists around. Herds of wildebeest wander around the camp, which comprises 8 en-suite tents and a family tent. Natural textiles and an earth-toned colour palette reflect the beauty of the camp’s setting, affording a closer connection to the wild surroundings. There is also the option to book one side of the camp on an exclusive-use basis.
Activities at Songa Migrational Camp’s southern location include night and day game drives with your private guide and vehicle (included in every booking) and cultural visits to a Datoga village.
Accommodation at Legendary Songa Migrational Camp
With only eight tented rooms and a spacious family suite, Songa is a luxury camp offering an intimate migration safari experience enveloped by nature.
In both its northern and southern settings, Songa’s design emphasizes the unspoiled beauty of its surroundings through the use of natural tones and textures. At the same time, bright geometric patterns add a welcome pop of vibrance to its spaces. Each tented room is a cocoon of contemporary safari luxury, where your every comfort — from steaming hot showers to supremely comfortable king-sized beds — is considered.
Experience Legendary Songa Migrational Camp
Delicious meals are prepared by the camp’s chef, which can be enjoyed in the main area or private settings in the bush. Witnessing the Great Migration of the wildebeest and zebra is of course an absolute highlight of any trip to Tanzania. Dramatic river crossings in the North and West and the birth of myriad young animals in the South are both unforgettable experiences. The incredible number of animals attracts predators at any time of the year which expect easy prey. Exciting safaris are guaranteed.
At Songa Migrational Camp all game drives take place with your private guide and vehicle. In the north only game drives by vehicle are possible (as within the national park). In the south, bush walks, night drives and a visit to the Datoga people can also be undertaken (as in the private Maswa area). In the north ballooning is an option which can be booked in advance if you are interested (extra cost).
